"Beginning Improv Acting" Class ($160/8 weeks)
Beginning Improv Acting is a class for students who would like to get serious about improvisational acting. This class takes you onstage to begin experimenting with characters and scenes.
In this class, you'll begin to delve deeper into improv vocabulary/rules and play more focused improv games to get you into scenework. Onstage, you'll begin to play with creating characters and scenes.
Beginning Improv Acting addresses the basic skills of improv acting onstage, including the following:
- Making offers and saying "Yes And...!"
- Exercising your confidence, concentration, and spontaneity
- Saying the first thing that comes to mind and not worrying about being clever
- Being present and connected with your partners
- Not worrying about being wrong (and accepting failure)
- Making up stories
- Supporting and being connected with your partners
- Playing with status
- Endowing yourself and your partner
- Creating objects and locations out of thin air
- Seeing what your partner sees
This class is open by invitation of the instructor or to those who have successfully completed the "Improv FUNdamentals" course material. Check the schedule for class times. Beginning Improv Acting is an 8 to 16 week course, divided into 2 sessions for your convenience. Each session costs $160 and meets for 8 weeks at the same time each week. If you would like to commit to more than one session, we will extend a discount for advance payment as follows:
- Pay for 2 sessions and receive a 10% discount. $288 for 16 weeks.
