Scene Study and Character Development ($160/8 weeks)
In our beginning level acting class, actors explore and examine the skills necessary to present a believable and compelling character as it relates to a scene in a staged format. Focus will be given to character development, backstory, motivation, "reading between the lines," storytelling, and emotional interpretation of the scenes. Students may choose pieces from pre-existing works. Each student will participate in a scene.
Students will be given lessons in many stage skills, including proper vocal production, stage etiquette, stage movement, stage production, and stage makeup. Also, students will be taught lessons in additional acting skills, including motivation, character commitment, and improvisational technique.
Students must audition for this class with a monologue. Scene Study and Character Development is an 8-16 week course, divided into 2 sessions for your convenience.
